July 1, 2022 - Steward Health Care is pleased to welcome Alex Contreras-Soto to its executive leadership team as the new President of Palmetto General Hospital. Contreras-Soto will oversee operations and leadership at Palmetto General, which has served the Miami community for over 50 years and is a regional leader in stroke care.

Alex’s experience in health care and ties to the Palmetto community run deep. He served as Chief Operating Officer of Palmetto from 2002 to 2009. During his tenure, he spearheaded the Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Room, obstetrics and newborn intensive care unit and helped develop the hospital’s open heart and vascular programs. Over 100 open-heart surgeries were performed during the first year of operations thanks to his hard work.

Alex went on to serve as the CEO of Spring Hill Regional Medical Center, and eventually SVP of Operations at Jackson Health Systems.
